How and where has summer gone? I feel liked it has flashed before our eyes this year, one minute having cocktails on the beach and the next I am 5 days away from moving 4 hours away for another exciting adventure called University. One week I was shopping all the latest swimwear and holiday clothes on Missguided and the next I am planning my winter warobe. However I wouldn't have changed this summer for the world - kicking it off with my 18th Birthday, going out clubbing, then an insane three week holiday to Mexico to come back home to more clubbing and great nights with some of my favourite people. Who could complain. I definitely didn't as I was laying on a golden beach with a strawberry daiquiri in my hand.

You know its been a good holiday when you don't want to go home and this trip was defiantly one of them. It honestly was three weeks in paradise, a much needed to break after finishing my A Levels and exams. We escaped our underwhelming English summer to a much more nicer one with three heavenly weeks in Mexico. Other than the heat and stunning scenery we chose to come to Mexico as its where my parents went on their honeymoon and considering they celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary in May it was the perfect destination to celebrate all our milestones this year - including my 18th and my brothers 16th. I however had never been to Mexico or South America before so was very excited to experience and see the stunning sites this country had to offer.

We started out first week fairly slowly, just chilling on the beach and round the pool the first few days as there was. 6 hour time difference so we were 6 hours behind the UK - fair to say it toke us a day or two to adjust. As you can see from the pictures above, the hotel we stayed at was incredible - it was called Catalonia Riveria Maya. There were palm trees everywhere, it was so clean and there were so many restaurants to chose from for dinner every night - my brothers favourite feature of the hotel. Also, the hotel was within its own gated community and if you waled two minutes walk down the road you found yourself at a beautiful marina with bars, another beach and more accommodation. Now I have always wanted to go and see dolphins, not in the films in real life and much to my excitement down at the marine they had dolphins! My inner child was in heaven they are such beautiful creatures and it was defiantly something I won't forget.

After a week of relaxation, we were defiantly ready to go enjoy the remaining two weeks. It kicked of with my very social parents befriending a dutch family who we got very friendly with over the course of the rest two weeks. Another cool feature the hotel had is foam parties in the pool twice a week - probably sounds boring to some but after a few too many strawberry daiquiris it made it a lot more interesting. We also meet some very interesting Americans who of course where very intrigued about everything British and we ended up speaking a few nights with them. and let me tell you they know how to drink. They were all 18 and had just graduated so were defiantly there to drink and have a good time.

On the last week of our holiday, we decided to venture out of the hotel and do some sight seeing. We first went to see Tulum, which as some Mayain Ruins by the coast that have plenty of history behind them. Usually I am not one for historical trips, to be honest with you normally I find them very boring. However, this one was very different and actually to my amazement very interesting. They were explaining about how the mayain's informed things liked our calendar and cycles. After that we then went to a theme park with a twist called Xsenses, part of a chain of parks in Yucatan, Mexico. It was the weirdest and best thing I have been to, the rides/activities were designed to test your senses with a bird flight biplane, gravity defying village, plunge pool, salt and mud river and plenty more that was very unique. It was expensive but it was well worth the experience as you can't do it anywhere else.

I still find it hard to understand that this holiday has been and gone, there was so much anticipation leading up to It and it defiantly lived up to it. The days of relaxing on a golden beach and soaking in the sun are long gone till next summer.

I hope you enjoyed this first official blog post on my trip to Mexico, my next posts will be an Mexico holiday outfit post, a University Homeware Haul and possibly a Misguided/ Pretty Little Thing Haul.

See you guys next time
