This week for FCP we were given the task of creating a photoshoot with an idea/concept behind it based on our colour and the research we had previously done. Now immediately when we got given this task my mind wandered to the notion of the Victorian Era. To me I think its such a classic and timeless era that had such distinctive fashion influenced by many factors. So when this opportunity came around I was very excited. However, when we were brainstorming ideas we said we wanted to challenge the Victorian Era and almost add something a bit more complex and interesting to the mix to create a more intriguing concept behind the photos. Making us think of the final idea - Victorian VS. Modern.

I thought this would be really interesting as it highlights two very distinctive time periods and highlights the timelessness of Victorian fashion. Which represents how trends and looks always come back into fashion - its like a cycle in which old trends will come back eventually and be 'recycled' in a more innovative way. How if you look back what we perceive as new trends are actually old trends already thought of and used. Symbolising the bigger picture that fashion is timeless - it has and always be a big part of our lives whether people know it or not.

So for our photoshoot we decided to walk round Nottingham - a cultural hub for art, music, fashion and everything creative. We were on the lookout for modern, trendy and quirky areas to contrast with the very traditional and sophisticated outfit I was wearing in the pictures. So first we found some graffiti walls we thought were perfect for this by our University campus at some clubs called Rescue Rooms and Sleath. The graffiti completely sends the message of a modern trendy city as its quite an arty and rebellious thing which would have defiantly not happened in the way it does now in Victorian times. We then found a street with moderns building to again create that contrast between my outfit and the surroundings - to almost make me look like I had skipped a couple of centuries.
