To conclude this part of the purity project, we have to create three mood boards for each section we had to research : Shops, People and History. Presenting out findings to one of our lecturers and explain our trend in this current season. Now the thought of this was terrifying for me, I am not a confident public speaker and have never been, its always been something I have dreaded. All them eyes glued to you and you are meant to talk like you don't care. However, the presentation day came and there the 9 of us where stood in front of a small group of our fellow course mates and our lecturer.
The way we did it was 3 to a board and I had to talk about the people board and how purity translates as a trend currently, my topic to talk about was the idea of purity and makeup. To me this translates to a current season trend now in the form of the highlighter and a more glowy look even as winter descended - the highlighter still rages on. Coming out in different iridescent and wintery colours such as icy blues, duo chrome pinks, silvers and many more. To me this embodies purity in makeup at the moment, the idea of an iridescent highlighter catching the light lighting up that part of your face. When brainstorming ideas for purity light was defiantly one word that came up - light is such a natural, simple thing that is everywhere. When we look at light colours we associate them with pure, pastel pinks, icy blues, metallic silvers all can now be brought to life on your cheekbones.
Another aspect of makeup and purity that we kind of explored was the 'no makeup look'. Now this is defiantly a more obvious version of purity in makeup, the idea of a natural and untouched face and allowing your skin to breath. I also associate a 'no makeup look' with the notion of innocence - there isn't many girls that go out to town with no makeup on their face. Representing an 'innocent good girl'. However, if you flip this you could argue there is a sense of purity in wearing a full face of makeup - how the makeup creates a purely perfected flawless face covering all your 'imperfections'. Makeup makes the flawless look attainable for girls.
This presentation was not my favourite part of this project however I felt it was a good opportunity to explain our ideas and get us much more use to public speaking as I will be doing plenty over the space of my three year course. This project is actually continuing in the form of ideas so keep your eyes peeled for more pure obsession posts.
