Now for the second half of our 'Purity' project, we were given a brief around the notion of ideas. We had to create a new, innovative idea around our word for a client we were given. So as you can see from the title ours was Purity and Liberty and we had to create something to do with print. Now on first thoughts we were very confused and did not know where to start. Liberty already has floral and natural prints which can be perceive as pure so that was something we wanted to keep running throughout our ideas.
Our initial idea was to create a limited edition magazine for Liberties loyal customers with a section explaining there heritage and the rest showcasing their new furniture range. When we researched Liberties and their customer we found that loyalty and heritage are values they love within a brand. Therefore this magazine would cater for them and retain and re-energise their original cliental. The furniture collection. shown would also be like their original furniture as Liberties was originally built to be a furniture store. Using some of their original prints and collections and brining them to present day.
How this idea was good but after a seminar we realised we defiantly needed to be a bit more creative and push the idea a bit more. From this seminar we came out with the idea to focus more on what we could do with the actual pattern/print instead of trying to put it in a magazine or physical print. So our new and improved idea was to create a maze with the print round London starting from Liberties and ending at Kew Gardens where the new print and collection will be on display covering all of Kew Gardens. The print will be on the streets and lead you to a pattern filled garden where the more modernised collection will be on display making our idea a lot more interactive. Our aim with this idea is to bring in a younger audience to Liberties and re-erngise the brand by using the presence of social media to engage with a more youthful target audience.
Personally I really liked this project as I loved the fact that for the first time we actual got given a brand to use and 'work with' - it gave us something to research and start from which made it so much easier and fun to think of ways to completely turn a brand's identity around. Liberties is defiantly dying at the moment but maybe this idea could work to bring the brand back to life?
