My love for fashion is never ending however another love of mine is music. I have always been a big fan of the music and the industry - there isn't a moment that I don't have it on when I am sat in my room. The two subject matters on there own are very intriguing and creative but even more so when you out them together. Which is exactly what the fashion and music industry do - fashion brands and companies use music stars/influencers a lot to promote a campaign or product. The influence and power of a celebrity shouldn't be underestimated in the fashion industry - if a celebrity is seen in something that goes viral then its sold out in 5 seconds. Most brands try and collaborate with stars as much as possible throughout a year, making it hard to see a campaign that has no celebrity backing or influence. One brand that has utilised this in a major way if TopShop with their Ivy Park by Beyonce range. This 228-piece fitness/sportswear range was introduced 14th April 2016 and was very highly anticipated to say the least.

The hype around this collection was massive hyped way before its actual release date. That was all to do with the fact it was with an iconic star like Beyonce. Personally I admire her and her music however am not obsessed like the rest of the world - but one thing she is known for is her curves and body. Thousands of girls aspire and want a body like hers so of course her clothing range had to be active wear - creating the idea and realisation that her body is attainable and achievable to your average person. Our perception of 'Queen B' is that she is so perfect and 'goals' and her breaking through to retail makes her more relatable and is something not many celebrities do. In the grand scheme of things most celebrities tend to target the more expensive and 'high end' brands. Which I feel has definitely set the path for other big names to do the same for example, the Gigi Halid and Maybeline collection which has just been announced. This collection came around when sportswear as casual wear started to become a trend very possibly helping and accelerating the success of this collection at the start. This isn't the first time TopShop have done collaborations of this scale with celevrtites, a couple of years ago they did a collection with Kendal and Kylie which did not in my opinion do as well as this collection. Just showing the influence and importance of celebrities and which ones brands collaborate with - if they don't gel with the brand then its not even worth the trouble.
