Passion for Fashion Photography

Fashion Photography has always been something that interested me within this field/industry. I love seeing how brands and artists communicate a message of ethos by the styling, location, set, mood, lighting etc. For example, Monsoon would never use the same photography style as River Island. I could sit and flick through magazines just admiring the photography for hours, there is 100% more thought than people think that goes into a single photo. In one of my recent seminars I discovered some fashion photographers that I personally like and who's style of work I find very intriguing. They are the following people: Viviane Sassen, Tim Walker, Serge Lutens, Paolo Roversi, Nick Knight and Craig Mcdean.

I love all these photographers as I feel they don't just do the stereotypical thing, they all have unique and individual styles that they are known for. However my top two out of the bunch have to be Viviane Sassen and her use of bold/bright colours creating contrast within the image and abstract shapes/figures shown in the example of her work below. I particularly like this as I find it extremely intriguing, my eyes dart round the image to take it all in. I also heavily admire Tim Walker's work along with the rest of the world - I love how it creates a fantasy, whimsical and romantic look with pastel colours, natural settings and delicate details. He really has owned the 'surrealist' photography style and is possibly the most influential photographer in that category - everyone tries to beat him evidently shown in all the rip offs of his work.
