NYC - Victoria Secrets

On day 2 of our trip we stumbled among this jewel within the Victoria Secrets store near Central Park. Now I am not obsessed with Victoria Secrets, however I can appreciate the brand and what it does. This exhibition was no different - over the top but amazing and glam. On the top floor they hosted this showcasing the company collaboration with the famous, high end designer Balmain. A collection that in my opinion gave some much needed edge to the brand. We all know Victoria Secrets for being a 'preppy, typical American girl' brand whereas Balmain is much more edgy, androgynous and pushes the boundaries a bit more. The collection incorporated the usual girly, sexy VS look with the sparkle but the colours, materials and textures brought to the table by Balmain created the perfect contrast. It almost emphasised Victoria Secrets brand image even more by showing their consumers something complete different really highlighting the different between their image and this collection. Personally, I loved this and thought it was a very clever idea from both brands and think they have both merged their very different images very well. It was very interesting to see high end meeting high street in this way as its something that doesn't happen all that often. I mean would you really expect Gucci to collaborate with TopShop?
